Breathing new life into a 1949 Masonic Lodge, this adaptive reuse project converts an underutilized space into a vibrant 9,000 sq. ft. community food hall with indoor & outdoor seating and retains an existing indoor stage for live performances.
The second floor provides 2,000 sq. ft. of community space including a WiFi lounge, art gallery, and meeting room.
Special attention was given to retaining several character defining features of the unique mid-century building and integrating design elements which pay homage to its former use.
The project resides in a significant historic district that highlights California and Los Angeles history with the Mission San Gabriel Archangel from 1771 and a Mission Revival playhouse from 1927.
In addition to providing a new space for visitors of all backgrounds to dine and gather in a welcoming space, this project has provided start-up food businesses a place to launch, non-profits a place to meet, and artists a place to share their work.
